PROJECT MANAGER/PROJECT ENGINEER

OMARA Engineering PC is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Project Manager/Project Engineer with 10 plus years of experience to join our rapidly growing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through the full lifecycle—from initiation to closeout—ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations
  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans covering scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, procurement, staffing, and communications
  • Define and maintain the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and project schedule

Experience with food, dairy, or chemical plants is required. Heavy machinery or equipment manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting projects involving specialty chemicals and materials, developing, and manufacturing products.
  • Research, design, and develop new production processes.

Our Mechanical Engineers play a critical role in full project lifecycles and are typically responsible for plant design, plant layout, piping selection, and evaluation of major mechanical equipment and control systems. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver with a passion for designing efficient, high-performance systems.

Projects may involve the following: rotating equipment, heat exchangers, intercoolers, aftercoolers, process piping, refrigeration systems, chillers, boilers, heaters, control systems, cooling towers, filters, code vessels, reactors, and tanks. Rotating equipment includes gas or steam turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, motors, generators, and pumps for  process/petrochemical or cogeneration projects.

CONTROLS ENGINEER

OMARA is seeking a highly motivated Controls Engineer with 7 plus years of experience to join our innovative engineering team.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on automation, troubleshooting production equipment, and working with emerging technologies. Employees will receive training on new Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) platforms and fleet management
software and will play a key role in deploying, optimizing, and supporting these systems, as well as other advanced automation technologies, throughout the facility.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree or technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLCs (RSLogix 5000 and/or Studio 5000).
  • Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal/S7.
  • Ladder logic PLC programming.
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics and machine control circuits.
  • Ability to troubleshoot controls-related automation equipment breakdowns in a high-pressure manufacturing environment.
  • Basic robot programming experience (FANUC Robotics experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of EtherNet/IP industrial networks.
  • Prior automotive, vehicle assembly, or industrial automation experience preferred.
  • Experience in programming or working with servo drives, motion control systems, and VFDs is preferred.

  • Respond to carryover issues from previous shifts and support troubleshooting efforts for automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist maintenance and operations teams with equipment breakdowns, automation faults, and production interruptions.
  • Utilize Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs primarily for troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
  • Review and interpret controls logic to identify the root causes of equipment and automation issues.
  • Troubleshoot Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), including routing, navigation, communication, and material delivery interruptions.
  • Support AMR fleet management software and related systems to ensure reliable transportation of materials throughout the facility.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, and materials teams to maintain equipment uptime and achieve production targets.
  • Document troubleshooting activities, corrective actions, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with materials, logistics, production, and maintenance teams to identify additional opportunities for automation and robotic integration.
  • Assist with AMR and collaborative robot (cobot) commissioning, startup support, validation testing, and production launch activities.
  • Contribute to capital projects involving advanced automation, automated material handling systems, robotics, and smart factory initiatives.
